Cookie policy – Onlinebookiesnz

Describing online bookmakers needs only a few technical tools, and this policy names them. Cookies are text files kept by a browser on a device, and local or session storage and counting pixels work along similar lines.

Governing law

The Privacy Act 2020 applies when cookies and comparable tools gather personal information, through the information privacy principles in section 22. A lawful purpose linked to running the site is required (IPP 1), as is telling the person what is gathered and why (IPP 3). Security safeguards must be reasonable (IPP 5), retention no longer than necessary (IPP 9), and disclosure outside New Zealand is bound by IPP 12. Whatever the banner offers can be changed later.

Required files

These keep the site dependable: sessions, load balancing across servers, protection of forms against abuse and storage of the cookie choice. They are set without a separate choice. Session files vanish when the browser closes; the stored choice stays no longer than twelve months.

Functional and analytics files

Functional files recall settings, such as the comparison tables last opened. Analytics files count views and show which pages are read, for the sake of improvement. Only after the banner choice are either set. IP addresses are shortened first, and profiles that follow behaviour between sites are not built.

Third-party content

Videos, maps and other embedded services may set their own files; the provider’s privacy rules then add to this policy, and objections go to that provider. Onlinebookiesnz sets no advertising cookies for personalised ads without a clear banner choice.

A choice is changed or withdrawn through the "Cookie settings" link in the footer at any time, and withdrawal works for the future. Browser privacy settings can also block or delete cookies. Deleting necessary files brings the banner back, and some features may pause briefly.

Complaints

Complaints about handling of personal information go to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner. Further detail is in this site’s privacy policy.
