Privacy policy – Onlinebookiesnz

A site describing online bookmakers needs little personal data, and Onlinebookiesnz takes only that. The Privacy Act 2020 and its information privacy principles (section 22) set the rules.

Agency in charge

The body that operates Onlinebookiesnz is responsible for personal information collected through it. Name, address and e-mail are available at onlinebookiesnz.com, which is also the contact point for privacy questions.

What is gathered

Each page request leaves a server log line: IP address, date and time, the address asked for, the data volume sent, the referring page and the browser type. Logs support security and the finding of abuse, and are deleted or cut after 90 days to the point where no person is identifiable. Anyone writing to the editors gives a name, an e-mail address and the message, kept only for answering. There are no reader accounts, deposits or bets, so no payment details or identity documents are taken.

Purposes and principles

The purposes are lawful ones linked to the site: operating and securing it, answering messages and, after a banner choice, audience measurement (IPP 1). Persons are told what is gathered and why (IPP 3), and the use stays within those purposes (IPP 10). Automated decisions and profiling do not occur.

Service providers and disclosure abroad

Information is not sold. Hosting, content delivery and mail providers receive it, as do public authorities when the law requires. Some providers store data outside New Zealand; disclosure abroad happens only where the receiver is bound by comparable safeguards, or the person has been informed and agrees, as IPP 12 requires.

Security and retention

Reasonable safeguards protect against loss and misuse (IPP 5). Retention follows purpose (IPP 9): logs up to 90 days, correspondence until the matter is closed and for as long as possible claims need. A notifiable privacy breach, meaning one causing or likely to cause serious harm, goes to the Privacy Commissioner and to those affected.

Access and correction

Access to information held about a person (IPP 6) and its correction (IPP 7) can be requested. A reply is given as soon as reasonably practicable and no later than 20 working days from receipt (section 40).

Complaints

A person who believes their privacy has been breached can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
